Reubys Salt Beef and Cheesecake Bar in Clacton-on-Sea is a deli that quickly earns a foothold with anyone looking for a satisfying lunch or a cozy mid-afternoon break. Located just off Rosemary Road, it’s a spot that locals lean on for generous, well-made salt beef bagels and a carefully curated selection of comforting dishes. This isn’t just a grab-and-go place; the atmosphere feels welcoming and easy, shaped by friendly staff and a setup that invites you to linger—whether for a light soup or a slice of cheesecake.

The salt beef sandwich is clearly the landmark item here, known for its hearty portions and quality fillings that don’t scrimp on flavour or substance. It’s a good choice for anyone after a robust midday meal, particularly if you’re grabbing lunch on the run but want more character and freshness than the usual fast options. The bread choices—white, brown, or rye—add a smart level of customization, with many opting to pair their beef with fresh bagels that have a satisfying light crispness on the outside.

Beyond the salt beef, the deli slips in some distinctively comforting items like lentil soup and lokshen soup, reflecting a nod to traditional Jewish culinary roots. For those who appreciate a blend of savoury and sweet, the pumpkin and baked lemon cheesecakes offer a satisfying finish that’s not overly sugary, making them a good complement to the richer savory offerings.

Visitors coming in for a quieter moment might find the deli's friendly service and cosy atmosphere a welcome pause from the bustle of Clacton’s seafront scene. It’s a place where the food is straightforward and well-prepared, set in a relaxed environment where staff are ready with a smile. Whether you’re here mid-morning for a light bite or just before heading to the beach for an easy lunch, Reubys fits neatly into the rhythm of daily local life.

The deli works best for those after a no-fuss, quality meal with a hint of home-cooked warmth. Regulars seem to return not just for the food but for the approachable vibe where you can feel comfortable without the pretense. If you’re exploring Clacton and want something genuinely different from the typical seaside cafés, this is a stop where the food holds its own quietly but effectively.

Staff are lovely and friendly. The bagels are nice - the bagels themselves are lightly crisp and fresh. Good portions of salt beef. The salmon cream cheese bagel was also delicious.

Haven't been here for a couple of years since they moved premises, OMG, had the salt beef bagel for my lunch on the go, literally one of the nicest things I've ever eaten! Not only had their establishment improved, somehow their already exceptional food has! Please visit this place if you are in Clacton, nothing else is doing food like this

Best beef bagel I’ve had in the UK. Very generous with ingredients and worth every penny. I’ve had a slice of lemon cheesecake too and it was very light and amazing. Not too sweet. Highly recommended

Outstanding. Popped in here today for a salt beef bagel with everything on it and got Mrs one too. I'm glad I was asked if I wanted serviettes because when I got to the seafront and ate it, it went not just in the face, but across it too, because it was just delicious! Absolutely outstanding food Support this local business!

Had a friend over on Saturday, both had the large breakfast, it was a definite top 3 experience, nice tea in a nice cup lovely staff, what more could you want? Will definitely be back!! I just had to add to my review, went back this Saturday 16th august. Had a salt beef sandwich, OMG!!! This was the best I’ve ever had, used to go brick lane all the time & this is on another level. My friend had the smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel, she was well impressed. Then…. The pistachio cheese cake she’s still thinking up an excuse to tell fat club on Wednesday we shared it so she should be ok. If you take any advice this week? Trust me, JUST GO!!! Forgot. the staff are amazing!!!
